Mahesh Thapa, the "Starving Photographer," was born in Nepal and immigrated to the United States at the tender age of 8. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Southern California. It was in medical school that a passion for photography was born. Mahesh completed his Diagnostic Radiology residency at the University of Washington, and his Pediatric Radiology fellowship at Seattle Children's Hospital, where he is currently on faculty.

When not busy with the trials and tribulations of clinical, administrative, and research duties, Mahesh spends much of his time thinking about, taking, processing, and printing images. His main photographic interests lie in landscapes and nature. Since getting married in 2006, Mahesh and his wife, Cindy, spend as much time as possible exploring and photographing the outdoors.
